THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI...
NORTHEAST LOUISIANA...AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY...

...THUNDERSTORMS...
AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE WEATHER IS LIKELY FOR MOST OF THE OUTLOOK
AREA TONIGHT. THE AREA OF GREATEST RISK APPEARS TO BE ALONG AND
WEST OF INTERSTATE 55 BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 6 AM. THE POTENTIAL
FOR SEVERE STORMS WILL SPREAD EAST OF INTERSTATE 55 AFTER
MIDNIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH MID MORNING WEDNESDAY.

ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON OVER
NORTHEAST LOUISIANA...SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS AND SECTIONS OF
SOUTHWEST  MISSISSIPPI...GENERALLY ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM
CLEVELAND TO BUDE.

A POWERFUL UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE DIGGING SOUTHEAST FROM THE
CENTRAL ROCKIES TODAY WILL SPIN UP A DEEPENING SURFACE LOW OVER
THE RED RIVER VALLEY THAT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE ARKLATEX THIS
EVENING. ISOLATED  SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER
WEST AND SOUTHWEST AREAS BY LATE AFTERNOON AHEAD OF A WARM FRONT
THAT WILL LIFT INTO LOUISIANA TODAY AND PIVOT INTO WEST
MISSISSIPPI THIS EVENING. DEEP MOISTURE AND WIND SHEAR WILL
INCREASE RAPIDLY ALONG AND BEHIND THE WARM FRONT. THIS WILL ALLOW
THUNDERSTORMS TO ERUPT AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING COLD FRONT
TONIGHT. THESE STORMS SHOULD INITIALLY BE SCATTERED IN NATURE IN
THE WESTERN HALF OF THE OUTLOOK AREA TONIGHT BUT THEN EVOLVE INTO
A SQUALL LINE AS THEY MOVE FARTHER EAST AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEVERE
STORMS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WIND GUSTS...LARGE
HAIL AND TORNADOES. THE PRIMARY TORNADO RISK WILL OCCUR LATE
TONIGHT AND A FEW STRONG TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE.

...FLOODING...
PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL OCCUR WITH STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS THAT WILL BE SCATTERED ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA
TONIGHT. PONDING WATER SHOULD BE EXPECTED ON ROADWAYS AND IN LOW
LYING AREAS AS THE STORMS MOVE THROUGH. RAINFALL WILL BE LOCALLY
HEAVIER WHERE STORMS TRACK ACROSS THE SAME LOCATIONS SEVERAL
TIMES...INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR STANDING WATER ON ROADWAYS
AND IN AREAS WHERE DRAINAGE IS POOR.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY...

...DAYS TWO AND THREE...WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT...
AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL LIKELY BE ONGOING WEDNESDAY
MORNING FOR THE AREA EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM A SQUALL LINE EARLY WEDNESDAY
MORNING AND ACCELERATE EASTWARD. DISCRETE SUPERCELLS AHEAD OF THE
SQUALL LINE WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE. DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL
AND TORNADOES WILL ALL BE POSSIBLE.

RESIDENTS ARE ADVISED TO STAY TUNED FOR LATER FORECASTS AND
STATEMENTS ON THIS POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.

ALL OF THE STORMS SHOULD EXIT EAST MISSISSIPPI BY ABOUT MID
AFTERNOON WEDNESDAY.

IN ADDITION TO THE SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL...WEDNESDAY WILL BE
VERY WINDY. BEHIND THE COLD FRONT...SUSTAINED WEST WINDS OF 20 TO
25 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH SPEEDS JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE OF 30 TO 40
MPH. THESE STRONGER WINDS MAY MIX DOWN TO THE SURFACE DURING THE
DAY RESULTING IN WIND GUSTS OF 40 MPH MAINLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE
TWENTY.

...DAYS FOUR THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY...
NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.SPOTTER CALL TO ACTION STATEMENT...
THE ACTIVATION OF STORM SPOTTERS...HAM RADIO OPERATORS...AND
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL...IN SUPPORT OF SEVERE WEATHER
OPERATIONS IS REQUESTED FOR AREAS NEAR THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND
SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND FOR ALL AREAS
TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. AFTER WEDNESDAY...ACTIVATION
IS NOT ANTICIPATED THROUGH NEXT TUESDAY MORNING.
